Sunderland face competition from Leeds United and Aston Villa to sign Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji this summer.
TEAMtalk reports that Leeds are well positioned and long-term admirers, and that Aston Villa, Brighton, Brentford and Everton have also shown interest. The outlet adds Bardghji, 20, is open to a loan, while SportsBoom claims Villa are now leading the race and talks are expected to speed up in the coming days.
Regis Le Bris has said he does not foresee a repeat of last summer’s frantic window. He believes targeted additions are needed, recruitment will shape the season, and judging how players settle is difficult.
He also indicated Sunderland’s structure and scouting have improved, allowing a wider view of the market.
With Europa League football secured, the club are seeking extra depth to manage a busier calendar as the new campaign approaches.
