Aston Villa set to beat Newcastle to signing of Johan Manzambi

Switzerland international Johan Manzambi is set to complete a move to Aston Villa with the West Midlands club to beat Newcastle United for the player's signature.

The SC Freiburg midfielder had strongly been linked with a move to St James' Park this summer and negotiations were in the final stages.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano it is now Villa who are set to land the 20-year-old instead for reported €60 million+ fee with a long-term deal already agreed with the player.

Manzambi featured four times for the Swiss at the 2026 World Cup before his injury but had a big impact, scoring three times and making two assists for his national. At club level, Manzambi featured 47 times for Freiburg last season, scoring seven goals and making six assists.
