Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara is set to miss two to three weeks of action as a result of a hamstring injury, according to The Athletic.

The Villa star was taken off in the first-half against Brentford on Saturday, with Emiliano Buendia replacing him.

Kamara had a scan yesterday, and it was discovered that his hamstring strain was minor in a huge boost for Villans manager Unai Emery.

Villa are back in action at Villa Park on Sunday when they host Crystal Palace in their third Premier League match of 2025-26, and they will be desperate to pick up all three points.

They played a goalless draw against Newcastle United on the opening weekend before a 1-0 defeat to the Bees last Saturday.

Villa will face the Eagles without Kamara but are hopeful he will be available for their first game after the international break next month – away to Everton on September 13.

Palace are yet to lose this term after drawing their opening games against Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, and they will also be eager for their first win on Sunday.

Villa want to go into the break on a positive note, and a defeat to the Selhurst Park club is the last thing they need.

They have been unable to make quality recruitment this summer as Emery would have desired due to the need to remain compliant with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

UEFA fined them earlier this summer for breaching their financial rules, and they have been largely looking at loan deals and low-budget signings.

Evann Guessand, Yasin Ozcan, Zepiqueno Redmond and Marco Bizot have joined Villa so far, while Modou Keba Cisse is set to join them next summer from LASK following an agreement.

Ozcan has been sent out on loan to Belgian Pro League club Anderlecht, and they are eyeing Toulouse centre-back Jaydee Canvot as his replacement.
