As reported by as.com, Edin Terzic is already planning pre-season at Lezama, with several Athletic first-team players cutting short holidays to train before fitness testing on 6 July.

Beñat Prados, who had left-knee ACL surgery on 23 September, has been seen working with the ball. He was in the squad at the Bernabéu on the final day but did not play, and could be important for Terzic this season.

Julen Agirrezabala is also stepping up after a mild to moderate meniscal issue in his left knee from a training incident in Paterna. He had surgery in Vitoria with Dr Mikel Sánchez and was cleared on 11 May.

Others using the modern gym include Guruzeta, who finished last season with 17 goals, plus Ruiz de Galarreta, Rego, Yuri, Djaló and Padilla.

Centre-back Unai Egiluz underwent surgery on 3 June on his right knee to replace the graft from a previous ACL injury. He has restarted the first phase of rehab with individual work.

Young forward Manex Lozano, loaned to Racing last season, had ACL surgery on 13 February. He is living at Lezama from Monday to Saturday under medical chief Josean Lekue, with only Sunday off. He will begin the campaign with Bilbao Athletic.
