Athletic send Ibai Sanz on loan to Córdoba in Segunda

Athletic have agreed to loan reserve-team top scorer Ibai Sanz to Córdoba for this season, according to El Correo.

The forward will join the squad led by Oviedo-born Iván Ania.

Sanz, 23, has scored 20 goals in 73 appearances for the reserves over the last two seasons, finishing as their leading scorer in both.

He arrived at Lezama from Barakaldo at 16. Loan spells at Gernika in Segunda Federación and Sestao River in Primera Federación brought more than 10 goals combined.

His form prompted a renewal earlier this year, tying him to Athletic until 2029. A temporary move to a Segunda club was already envisaged to secure senior minutes.

A regular starter for Bilbao Athletic, he now aims to make his Segunda debut. Córdoba were promoted in 2023-24 and stayed up last season, finishing 14th.
