Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez has spoken out on the ongoing speculation linking him with a move away from Spain’s capital.
The subject of frontman Alvarez’s future has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines across Spain across the week to date.
This comes after the Argentine’s spectacular five-goal haul across a pair of fixtures against Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid gave rise to swift links with La Liga champions Barcelona.
Amid an ongoing search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, the Blaugrana are understood to have earmarked Alvarez as the ideal profile.
The former Manchester City man was back on target once more on Tuesday night, as Atlético made short work of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.
Speaking to the media following the full-time whistle at the Metropolitano, Alvarez was therefore inevitably asked for an update on his future.
And the 25-year-old, during an interview with ESPN, made use of the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to the cause in Diego Simeone’s Rojiblancos squad:
“I’m very calm. There’s always talk but the truth is that the season is just starting now. My focus is on improving every day, win for Atlético. That’s the only thing on my mind… social media stories are beyond me.”
