Augsburg reject improved €25m Palace offer for Chrislain Matsima | OneFootball

Florian Plettenberg reports that Augsburg have rejected Palace’s second €25m offer for French defender Chrislain Matsima. Matsima has already reached a full verbal agreement with the Eagles and remains eager to complete the move. It’s unclear as to whether the South London club plans to improve upon their latest offer.

Do Augsburg actually want to sell Chrislain Matsima?

Augsburg’s rejection of Crystal Palace’s improved €25m offer for Chrislain Matsima raises an increasingly pertinent question: Do the Fuggerstädter genuinely wish to sell their defensive leader this summer? 

Augsburg’s refusal may simply represent an effort to extract the maximum possible fee from a wealthy Premier League suitor. Their stance nevertheless suggests that they will not sanction Matsima’s departure merely because the player has agreed personal terms elsewhere.

Palace must now decide whether to submit a third offer capable of testing Augsburg’s resolve. 

The 24-year-old currently remains under contract with FCA through 2030.
