Avaí members back SAF and Kactus Capital deal with 80% of vote

Avaí Futebol Clube members approved, with 80% of the votes in favor, the creation of the Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) and the investment proposal presented by Kactus Capital for Leão. The decision, made at a general assembly with the participation of the members, marks an important moment in the Club’s history.The members’ approval comes after the Deliberative Council had already given the project the green light, when council members voted in favor of the proposal presented by Kactus Capital. With the Assembly’s result, the 60-day due diligence period begins, as well as the structuring of the second contribution of 2.5 million by Kactus. Contributions related to the football department also begin immediately.Kactus Capital, an investment management firm with 16 years of experience in the Brazilian market and linked to a major English family office, also brings together professionals from the financial and sports sectors, including former player Rodriguinho, a two-time Brazilian champion and Brazil national team player. Among the main commitments undertaken by the future SAF is the settlement of Avaí’s historic debts, currently exceeding R$ 300 million, in addition to expanding investments in the football department, with a focus on strengthening the team and the club’s structure.The agreement also establishes mechanisms to preserve Avaí’s identity and assets. Estádio da Ressacada will remain the property of the association, while the SAF will be barred from changing the club’s traditional symbols, such as its crest, colors, anthem, brand, and nickname. In addition, the association will retain one-third of the seats on the SAF’s Board of Directors and Fiscal Council.The vote at the Assembly consolidated lengthy discussions about the implementation of the SAF. The expectation is that the partnership will contribute to financial balance, increase investment capacity, and strengthen the club’s competitiveness on and off the field, while preserving its history and identity.
