Bahia beat Chapecoense 2-0 at the Fonte Nova, staying sixth in the Brasileirão and extending the visitors' winless league run.
In the eighth minute Bahia won a penalty after Erick Pulga was fouled. VAR confirmed the spot kick. Rodrigo Nestor converted from the spot (12.).
Román Gómez doubled the lead with a header from a corner (34.), after David Duarte nodded the ball across.
Ronaldo preserved the clean sheet with smart saves, notably from Yannick Bolasie late in the first half, as Chape's response lacked precision.
After half time the visitors made two changes, but midway through the second half Bahia introduced Éverton Ribeiro and teenage forward Kauê Furquim to keep control and see it out.
Bahia had 64.7% possession and 17 attempts, plus 10 corners. Chapecoense mustered two shots on target from 10 attempts and made 37 clearances.
