Nicolás Acevedo set the tone in the 23rd minute by drawing a foul in the attacking half, as Bahia beat Chapecoense 2-0.
From there he kept Tricolor Baiano on the front foot, completing 35 of 35 passes before the interval and winning possession four times. His ball security invited pressure on Chape, who repeatedly had to reset.
After the restart, he drove a shot from outside the box that was blocked after combining with Erick Pulga (55.). He then arrived on the right to shoot wide from Éverton Ribeiro's pass (70.).
His clearest supply late on was a set piece delivery that teed up a headed chance which went over (81.). He finished with 73 of 74 passes completed, 22 successful final third passes and one big chance created, plus five fouls won and two tackles won.
With Esquadrão de Aço enjoying 64.7% possession, his tempo setting pinned Verdão do Oeste back and kept transitions under control. The midfield platform ensured Chape's counters rarely developed beyond first pressure.
Tricolor Baiano remain sixth on 29 points and visit Atlético Mineiro next. Chape stay 20th on nine points and host Flamengo next.
How high would you rate Acevedo's performance tonight?
