Exits are continuously being looked at within FC Barcelona, and they will be crucial this summer. For the Catalan club, it is essential to open up some extra space in the budget allocated to player salaries. After all, if Barcelona want to register new players, they need that extra space.

So far this summer, the club has primarily focused on arrivals and is already working on relevant operations. One successful operation so far has been that of Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who arrived from RCD Espanyol this summer and is expected to be Barça’s starting goalkeeper next season.
However, that signing will likely have a domino effect on the hierarchy of goalkeepers at the club currently. Wojciech Szczesny is expected to be the second-choice goalkeeper for Hansi Flick, and German shot-stopper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is expected to fall way down the pecking order.
In fact, Barcelona would ideally prefer to offload him this summer due to his significant salary. Fortunately, according to SPORT, Italian side Inter Milan are more than open to considering his signing, and they are even more intrigued by the prospect of signing him on a free transfer.
That is because Barcelona is reportedly open to letting go of the German goalkeeper for free this summer if it means getting to save paying his salary. As one of the players with the highest salaries in the entire team, Barcelona could really use that extra space to sort out other operations.
Moreover, with Inter Milan possibly considering the departure of 36-year-old Swiss goalkeeper Yan Sommer, it makes the possibility much more realistic. Ter Stegen is reportedly one of their targets this summer, and a formal offer could arrive soon as well.
For the Serie A side, Ter Stegen is a player that they could realistically acquire as well. Moreover, the project in Italy is one that would allow Ter Stegen to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season and continue to play at the highest level in European football.
So far, only brief contact has been made between Barcelona and Inter Milan. Mostly inquiries about the player’s situation and the feasibility of pursuing him, but it is expected that Barça will meet the player soon and try to reach a mutual agreement.
