Barcelona wonderkid Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez made his UEFA Champions League debut today, starting on the left wing against Olympiacos at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic.

And it proved to be a memorable one for Dro as the Blaugrana went on to secure a 6-1 win over the Greek giants, with Fermin Lopez, positioned as the attacking midfielder, grabbing a hat-trick.

Dro turned in an impressive performance on the night, lasting under an hour, before making way for Frenkie de Jong.

And the 17-year-old’s night was crowned with an assist for Fermin’s second goal, with the youngster playing his fellow La Masia graduate through on goal after some good work by Pedri to reclaim possession.

With that, at 17 years and 282 days, Dro became the second-youngest player to assist a goal on his Champions League debut, behind only Giovanni Reyna (17 years and 97 days) with Borussia Dortmund.

Dro’s overall display was a marked improvement from his La Liga debut against Real Sociedad, where the team’s overall performance made it difficult for him to stand out.

Against Olympiacos, the La Masia gem looked more comfortable and expressive, starting from the wing but showing his natural tendency to drift into central areas.

This match marked Dro’s second first-team appearance of the season to go along with the one game he has played for Barça Atletic.
