Barcelona in final Julián Alvarez transfer push | OneFootball

Several leading members of the boardroom at La Liga champions Barcelona have been spotted in the Spanish capital of Madrid late on Tuesday evening. This, it is understood, comes ahead of an imminent final push for the signature of Julián Alvarez.

Alvarez has of course long been identified as Barca’s priority target to replace Robert Lewandowski as the attacking spearhead in Hansi Flick’s squad.

Boasting technical quality, an eye for goal and an exemplary attitude on the pitch, the Argentine is considered the ideal fit in the all-action setup of the German tactician.

To date, however, Alvarez’s current employers, Atlético Madrid, have refused to budge in their stance that the 26-year-old is simply not for sale.

Barcelona have already seen a big-money offer for Alvarez knocked back this summer, with the Metropolitano brass adamant that their star frontman will be going nowhere before the transfer window slams shut.

As alluded to above, though, Joan Laporta and the Blaugrana hierarchy have evidently not given up hope just yet… As per a report from Jijantes on Tuesday evening:

‘Deco and João Amaral are in Madrid: last attempt to sign Julián Álvarez. In the coming hours, a summit with Fernando Hidalgo, the Argentine’s agent.’
