Barcelona keeping a close eye as Dinamo Zagreb set the price tag on their former defender | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have marked some players for sale as they are looking to raise funds required for their ambitious transfer market plans, the most prominent of which is to land the Argentine forward Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid. The recent confirmation of their return to the 1:1 status means they can now spend all of their income from sales on new signings.

Meanwhile, another source of income for them could be the sales of some of their former players on whom they still have some rights, and one such player, Sergi Dominguez, has his future somewhat uncertain this summer.

The Blaugranes kept the right to get 20% of any future transfer fee paid for the defender when they transferred him to Dinamo Zagreb for €1.2 million. Now, he is receiving significant interest from La Liga and Serie A sides, with Lazio being particularly strongly linked with him. However, his situation is not very easy to resolve.

The main problem is that Zagreb do not want to lose him for cheap. In fact, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Croats have set quite a high price on the young defender, i.e., €14 million.

If they are able to sell Dominguez for this sum, Barcelona would stand to get around €2.5 million from a potential transfer. Furthermore, they would get another €270,000 for training rights on the player, who was trained at their academy between 2020 and 2025, under FIFA Solidarity Mechanism.

Still, it remains to be seen whether Sergi Dominguez would change clubs this summer. Dinamo Zagreb believe the defender still has a lot of room for growth and his value can increase significantly with a season of regular playing time. Meanwhile, Barcelona continue to keep a close eye on the situation, and would be keen to get some money from their former player.
