Spurs ‘could return’ for Sergi Dominguez as Lazio loan offer falls short | OneFootball

Lazio’s move for Sergi Dominguez has stalled, with Dinamo Zagreb unconvinced by an opening offer and Tottenham Hotspur could return for the 21-year-old.

The Biancocelesti view the 21-year-old Spaniard as Mario Gila’s successor after his compatriot joined AC Milan earlier this week. A Barcelona academy graduate, Dominguez moved to Dinamo last summer and helped deliver a domestic double in Croatia.

On Thursday, sporting director Angelo Fabiani flew to Croatia for face-to-face talks but returned without agreement.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Lazio proposed an initial €3.5 million loan with an €8 million option to buy. Dinamo, however, are now seeking €15 million, so the gap remains wide.

Il Corriere della Sera says Spurs had Dominguez on an early shortlist before focusing on midfield, signing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. After selling Radu Dragusin to Fiorentina, they could launch a fresh bid and have the means to outbid Lazio. Lazio have missed out on leading targets before despite early interest.
