La Liga giants Barcelona were recently the recipients of a surprise player exchange offer by way of Premier League outfit Chelsea.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have also confirmed that Hansi Flick and co. wasted little time in knocking the bid back.
The player proposed to Barcelona came in the form of Christopher Nkunku, on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer after another underwhelming campaign.
The Blaugrana star being eyed by Chelsea, meanwhile, is Fermín López.
Midfielder Fermín is for his part fresh off a fine season in Catalunya’s capital, which saw the 22-year-old, despite being in and out of the XI, rack up eight goals and ten assists across all competitions.
And the importance of such production, evidently, was not at all lost on the part of manager Hansi Flick.
This comes amid confirmation on the part of MD that:
‘The Catalan club has flatly rejected the English club’s proposal. Both president Joan Laporta and manager Hansi Flick have flatly refused to accede to Chelsea’s request to exchange Fermín for France international Nkunku.’
