Barcelona are weighing up a sensational move for Harry Kane as they plan for life after Robert Lewandowski.
Reports in Spain claim sporting director Deco has drawn up plans to test Bayern Munich’s resolve next summer, with the England captain identified as the man to lead the line once Lewandowski departs.
The Polish striker, now 37 and in the final year of his contract, is expected to move on in 2026, leaving Barcelona searching for an immediate replacement of equal stature.
Kane has been prolific since arriving in Germany in 2023 and is closing in on 100 goals for Bayern across all competitions.
His consistency in the Bundesliga and Champions League has convinced Barcelona that, even at 32, he has the quality and longevity to spearhead their attack in the short term.
Hansi Flick is understood to be a firm admirer. The Barcelona head coach believes Kane would thrive in his system, providing a focal point for the side’s vertical wingers and adding leadership to a squad in transition.
While Kane represents the marquee target, Deco’s plans also include Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano. The French centre-back, whose contract expires in 2026, has attracted Barcelona’s attention due to the possibility of a cut-price deal or even a free transfer further down the line.
Flick has repeatedly underlined the need for defensive reinforcements, and Upamecano’s physicality and Champions League experience make him an appealing option. The 26-year-old would add depth and reliability to a backline that has often struggled with injuries and inconsistency.
Bringing both Kane and Upamecano to Camp Nou would be a statement of intent from Barcelona. It would address two of their most pressing needs — a proven number nine and a commanding central defender — while also balancing ambition with financial pragmatism if one arrives at a reduced fee.
President Joan Laporta and Deco are fully aware that Bayern are reluctant sellers, particularly when it comes to cornerstone players. However, Barcelona believe circumstances could open a window of opportunity, and the sporting department does not want to miss the chance to strike.
The strategy is clear: Kane as Lewandowski’s successor up front, and Upamecano as the defensive cornerstone of the future.
For Barcelona, it is a bold vision that blends star power with structural necessity — one that could reshape the team for years to come if they can convince Bayern to part with two of their most valuable assets.
