Barcelona rejected a €30m late-window bid from Galatasaray for 18-year-old midfielder Marc Bernal, Sport reports. The approach came during a restrained January at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Bernal recently scored his first senior goal in Saturday’s win over Mallorca. Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek made him a priority target, and the report added they offered to triple his salary to tempt him to Istanbul.
Despite the teenager being among the lower earners, Barcelona’s hierarchy, backed by Hansi Flick, refused to open talks. They deemed Bernal not for sale.
A local loan to Girona was briefly considered earlier in the month to secure minutes, but a permanent exit was never contemplated. The club believe his market value will far exceed €30m in the coming seasons.
The stance capped a quiet window. Barcelona made only two major changes, João Cancelo signed permanently and Marc-André ter Stegen departed, with the goalkeeping gap handled internally.
Galatasaray’s failed move underscores an aggressive recruitment drive aimed at competing at the highest European level. For Bernal, the board’s message is that his development is expected to continue under the Camp Nou lights, not elsewhere.
