The coming summer could see Barcelona go through a revamp in the goalkeeping department.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s future will be in question after returning from a loan spell at Girona, while Wojciech Szczesny is sure to retire, leaving several goalkeeper positions up for grabs.
In the midst of this uncertainty, Barcelona are looking increasingly favourably at Aron Yaakobishvili.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Yaakobishvili has climbed the list of potential reinforcements after making an impression during his ongoing loan spell at FC Andorra.
His performances have been impressive enough that the club are seriously considering him as an option to complete the first team’s goalkeeping trio next season.
Sent out on loan until June 2026 to gain professional experience, “Yaako” has seized the opportunity. He has already racked up 17 starts for the Andorra side, establishing himself as a key figure.

Despite playing for a team that is not among the league’s strongest, his individual numbers are compelling: an average of four saves per game and a save percentage hovering around 75%.
While he has conceded 21 goals, he has also managed to keep three clean sheets, often serving as the last line of defence for a struggling backline.
What makes Yaakobishvili particularly attractive to Hansi Flick and Deco is his alignment with the Barça DNA. He is excellent at reading the game, and his solid footwork when playing out from the back is a non-negotiable trait for a Barcelona goalkeeper.
The club showed their faith in him last summer by renewing his contract until 2028, amidst interest from several Segunda Division clubs. Now, that decision appears to be paying off.
