FC Barcelona are set to secure a valuable economic boost as former La Masia defender Sergi Dominguez edges incredibly close to a summer switch to Serie A giants Lazio.
Indeed, as reported by AS, the 21-year-old centre-back has reportedly reached a comprehensive agreement with the Italian side to sign a five-year contract spanning until June 2031.
With Lazio currently locking in ongoing negotiations with Dinamo Zagreb for a total package valued around €10 million, Barcelona are monitoring the situation expectantly due to a crucial 20% future sell-on clause retained during his initial departure.
Dominguez originally rose through the ranks of Barcelona’s famed La Masia youth system, eventually establishing himself as a key figure for Barça Atletic.
The Spanish defender even broke into the first-team picture under Hansi Flick, making five senior appearances during his breakout phase.

However, in pursuit of consistent first-team football, Barcelona finalised his permanent transfer to Dinamo Zagreb in June 2025 for a modest €1.2 million fee.
Recognising his potential, sporting director Deco refused to give up full rights, locking in a substantial percentage of any future capital gains.
The strategic move has proved a shrewd piece of business following Dominguez’s impressive debut season in Croatia.
The young defender emerged as one of the league’s top breakout starlets, anchoring Dinamo Zagreb’s backline across domestic campaigns and European fixtures.
His performances caught the eye of Lazio’s scouting department, who identified him as a long-term replacement for Mario Gila.

With the Italian outfit now aggressively finalising personal terms, a potential €10 million fee will translate to a smooth €2 million windfall heading directly back to the Spotify Camp Nou.
This impending injection of capital fits seamlessly into Barcelona’s overarching summer blueprint of generating pure profit from ex-players.
The Catalan giants have successfully turned it into a self-sustaining financial lever, with income expected from deals involving other former stars like Sergino Dest, Pablo Torre, and Ez Abde, among others.
Back operating under La Liga’s newly certified 1:1 financial rules, every single euro generated from these sell-on clauses can be immediately reinvested back into first-team recruitment.
