Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí has named a member of the attacking ranks at arch rivals Real Madrid as his toughest opponent ever.

The player in question? Kylian Mbappé.

Youngster Cubarsí, despite his tender years, has already faced off against a number of the game’s standout strikers over the course of his career.

At club and international level alike, the 18-year-old has been tasked with keeping tabs on the likes of Ousmane Dembélé, Julián Alvarez, and Lautaro Martínez.

As alluded to above, though, it is another who has left the most telling impression on Barcelona’s defensive prodigy across their past meetings.

Speaking during a Q&A with Diario Sport this week, Cubarsí was asked to name ‘the best attacker you’ve ever faced’.

And the Spanish international showed little hesitation in pointing towards the aforementioned Kylian Mbappé in his response.

Cubarsí and Mbappé will of course be expected to lock horns on the pitch for the latest time later this month, in the season’s first edition of El Clásico.

And the former will be tasked with attempting to minimise the impact of an Mbappé in the midst of some of the very best form of his glittering career.
