A day after it was confirmed that Barcelona had activated the purchase option included in Hamza Abdelkarim’s agreement, fresh information from Mundo Deportivo has now shed light on the player’s contract situation.
As relayed by the outlet, the youngster will sign a three-year contract with the Catalan team, keeping him at the club until 2029.
The deal marks another important investment in youth from the Blaugrana, who continue to search for emerging talents capable of becoming first-team stars in the years ahead.
Any uncertainty surrounding Abdelkarim’s future has now disappeared following the confirmation of Barcelona’s decision to make his stay permanent.
Al-Ahly officially announced the agreement through social media, confirming that Barcelona had exercised their option to purchase the young striker.
The operation is expected to cost around €1.5 million plus performance-related add-ons, with the remaining paperwork set to be completed shortly.
The latest update also reveals that Abdelkarim will sign a contract running until June 2029, giving Barcelona long-term control over one of the most promising young forwards to emerge from Egypt in recent years.
The teenager initially arrived in Catalonia during the January transfer window and spent the second half of the season adapting to life at the club while continuing his development within the academy setup.
Although Abdelkarim has only been at the club for a short period, he has already managed to leave a positive impression on those overseeing his progress.
The Egyptian forward featured for Barcelona’s Juvenil A side under Pol Planas and demonstrated why the club were willing to invest in his future.

His performances, movement in attack and eye for goal reportedly convinced decision-makers that he was worth keeping beyond his initial spell.
Notably, the striker arrives with significant expectations. Back in Egypt, he is already viewed as one of the country’s brightest football prospects and will play alongside Mohamed Salah at the World Cup.
While the transfer may not generate the same headlines as a major first-team signing, it shows the type of operation that has often benefited Barcelona in the past.
The club has increasingly focused on identifying young talents before their value explodes on the global market.
And at just €1.5 million plus add-ons, Abdelkarim represents a relatively low-risk investment with potentially huge upside.
