Barcelona ‘to keep’ Cancelo as talks with Al-Hilal continue | OneFootball

Barcelona are moving to keep Cancelo beyond this season. Fabrizio Romano reports that the club have told agent Jorge Mendes they want to retain the 31-year-old and discussions have started, with any stay dependent on a salary adjustment that fits their finances, and the player is enthusiastic about remaining.

Cancelo is currently on loan from Al-Hilal until the end of the campaign after arriving in January for a second spell at Camp Nou.

His first stint came in 2023-24, when he joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester City.

Parallel talks are also taking place between Barcelona and Al-Hilal to decide the structure and terms of any future arrangement. Cancelo’s contract with the Saudi club runs until the summer of 2027.

Any agreement would hinge on the salary adjustment being accepted and the clubs settling those terms.
