Barcelona have taken a significant step in their pursuit of Karim Adeyemi, but the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund forward is far from over.
According to Luca Bendoni, the Catalan club have submitted a package worth €20 million plus €10 million in add-ons, although Borussia Dortmund are continuing to push for a higher fee before agreeing to the transfer.
The Barcelona transfer news comes after reports earlier in the day confirmed that the Blaugrana had made an official approach for the German international, with Hansi Flick determined to bring one of his long-term targets to Camp Nou.
According to Bendoni, Barcelona’s official bid for Karim Adeyemi is structured around a guaranteed €20 million transfer fee, with a further €10 million available through performance-related add-ons.
The proposal differs slightly from earlier reports, which suggested Barcelona were offering a guaranteed fee alongside a percentage of any future sale.

While the overall package shows the club’s seriousness towards completing the deal, Borussia Dortmund believe the offer still falls short of Adeyemi’s market value.
The Bundesliga club are holding out for a fee of around €40 million, creating a sizeable gap between the two sides as negotiations continue.
Despite the disagreement over the transfer fee, there has been encouraging progress on the player’s side.
This is because Adeyemi has already reached a full agreement with Barcelona over the terms of a five-year contract, making it clear that his priority is to join the Catalan giants.
While Borussia Dortmund remain firm in their valuation, Barcelona believe the circumstances surrounding the transfer justify a lower fee.

One of the biggest considerations is Adeyemi’s contract situation.
Since the 24-year-old has only one year remaining on his current deal, Dortmund risk losing him for nothing next summer if they fail to agree a transfer now.
Barcelona also point to the fact that Adeyemi was not an automatic starter throughout last season and has struggled to reproduce his best form over the past two campaigns.
From the club’s perspective, those factors reduce his market value and make Dortmund’s €40 million valuation difficult to justify.
