Real Madrid and Bayern Munich delivered 90 minutes with no dearth of excitement when the two sides met earlier this week at the Allianz Arena.

The game eventually fizzled out to a 2-2 draw, but it was only a Vinicius Jr brace that helped Los Blancos level the scores despite the Bavarians’ spirited play.

Both teams are in action on Saturday in their respective leagues ahead of next week’s deciding leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. While Los Blancos face off against Cadiz, Bayern clash against VfB Stuttgart.

Injury alert

Despite having nothing to fight for in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel fielded a moderately rotated team for the weekend’s clash and appears to have lost a player through injury during the same.

Raphael Guerreiro, who started the team’s game tonight, was forced to leave the field after just 16 minutes of play.

While the extent of his injury is unclear, the development throws his participation against Real Madrid into doubt.

A big blow

While the 30-year-old Portuguese defender did not start against Real Madrid earlier this week, he came on as a substitute in the second half and complicated the game for the men in white.

In 45 minutes on the night, the veteran recorded two clearances, and one tackle and won a duel for his side in addition to maintaining a perfect passing accuracy of 100%. His absence, thus, is a blow to the German camp.

A versatile player capable of playing at left-back and in defensive midfield, Guerreiro brings value to the team with his experience as well.

However, Tuchel does have options to make up for his absence when Bayern visit the Santiago Bernabeu in a few days.
