Bayern Munich loanee Noel Aseko has impressed for Hannover 96 in the 2. Bundesliga this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 26 appearances.
With his loan spell expiring this summer, it remains unclear whether the 20-year-old midfielder will return to Bayern, extend his stay in Hannover or or take another route.
"Every athlete dreams of playing for the best at some point. Of course, I’m regularly in contact and in discussions with the people at Bayern and Hannover," Aseko told Bild.
"But I don’t focus on that. I only focus on the games; otherwise my head is too full with other things. I’m not planning for the next few weeks yet.
"I don’t want to rule anything out and want to keep all doors open for now. I could also imagine playing another year in the 2. Bundesliga.
"I spoke once with [FC Bayern sporting director] Christoph Freund. He’s proud of my development and told me to keep pushing and not let up," he added.
A German under-21 international, Aseko is also eligible to represent Equatorial Guinea – and the 20-year-old midfielder is keeping his international options open.
"My parents are from Equatorial Guinea and my family still lives there. The federation has asked me before if I wanted to play for them," Aseko said.
"But I don’t have an Equatorial Guinea passport. You shouldn’t rule out any options – it’s all possible for now.
"Wearing the German national team jersey is amazing and really special. I’ve been part of it since the U15s. Every time is something incredible. It’s always like a class reunion and a lot of fun," he concluded.
