Belén Aquino has been called up by Uruguay for next month’s internationals, taking Corinthians to 10 representatives in the first FIFA window of 2026.
According to Meu Timao, the forward will link up for two friendlies against Ecuador in Quito. The matches are at Chubb Arena on 4 March at 17:00 Uruguay time and on 7 March at 14:15.
Brazil have named goalkeeper Lelê, defenders Thais Ferreira, Gi Fernandes and Tamires, midfielders Ana Vitória, Duda Sampaio and Gabi Zanotti, plus forward Jaqueline. Venezuela’s Dayana Rodríguez completes the list.
This is Aquino’s first Uruguay summons since joining Corinthians. The 24-year-old has been a regular for her country from youth level and has played in two Copa América Femenina tournaments.
Uruguay are chasing a place at the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. They sit eighth in South American qualifying on two points, with Venezuela top on eight. The top two qualify automatically, third and fourth go to the intercontinental play-offs.
For Corinthians she has made four appearances to date. Signed at the start of the season, she has quickly won over the crowd and head coach Lucas Piccinato, starting in the Copa das Campeãs and the Supercopa do Brasil.
