Benfica consider Jorge Cuenca from Fulham as Marco Silva link persists | OneFootball

Benfica are prioritising defensive reinforcements for next season, with Fulham’s left-footed centre-back Jorge Cuenca among the options under review.

According to Glorioso 1904, the 26-year-old Spaniard, who was also linked in summer 2025, remains closely monitored by the club’s hierarchy. He joined Fulham from Villarreal in 2024 for around €6.7m.

Benfica view Cuenca as a possible successor to Nicolás Otamendi. The No 30 has left at the end of his contract and has been unveiled by River Plate.

Any move could be shaped by Fulham’s technical set-up, where Marco Silva manages Cuenca. The Portuguese coach has been linked with Benfica’s future, which could, in theory, either ease or complicate a switch.

In 2025/26 Cuenca played 22 times for Fulham, 15 in the Premier League, three in the FA Cup and four in the League Cup, totalling 1,523 minutes. He did not register a goal or an assist and is currently valued at €8m.
