Benfica could move out three centre-forwards this summer after bringing in Jhon Durán on loan from Al Nassr for €6.1 million, according to Glorioso 1904. The move has reduced opportunities for existing forwards.
Gustavo Varela is the first to depart, joining Monza for €2.5 million after a season on loan at Gil Vicente. He had not figured in Marco Silva's plans.
Henrique Araújo, 24, is also available for transfer after 11 first-team appearances last season without a goal. He scored two in eight for the B team, and Casa Pia, who already have André Gomes, are among the suitors.
Franjo Ivanovic is expected to leave, largely as a result of Durán's arrival. Signed for €22 million after a strong year with Union Saint-Gilloise, he could not dislodge Vangelis Pavlidis and ended 2025/26 with 42 matches, eight goals and two assists.
Galatasaray are monitoring the situation and are preparing a loan proposal for the Croatian forward. This season, Benfica's centre-forward group is expected to comprise Vangelis Pavlidis, Jhon Durán and Anísio Cabral.
