Bertrand Traoré is weighing up his next move after leaving Sunderland this summer. The winger started regularly for Régis Le Bris after a deadline day arrival from Ajax, but an Africa Cup of Nations injury, then a setback in a brief outing at Leeds United at Elland Road, curtailed his season. Sunderland chose not to take up an option to extend his deal, and interest in the 30-year-old is growing.
According to RMC, Sunderland are in advanced talks with Toulouse left back Dayann Methalie and have an agreement with the player, with a five-year deal to follow if a fee is reached. A package worth around £25 million is being discussed.
FC Porto, champions of the Primeira Liga last season and in the Champions League this year, have made an enquiry for Traoré. He knows head coach Francesco Farioli from their time together at Ajax.
Al Shabab and Nice have also enquired, and while that interest has not moved forward at this stage, Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation.
Sunderland are still searching for a right winger, with AS Roma Matías Soulé among the options.
Left back remains a priority after Dennis Cirkin’s free transfer exit earlier this summer. Arthur Masuaku is widely expected to leave, with Konyaspor in Türkiye interested, which would leave Reinildo as the only recognised option, and he is 32 and in the final year of his contract.
