‘Best in the world’ – José Mourinho heaps praise on another Real Madrid star | OneFootball

Former Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has moved to reveal his appreciation for the talents of current Blancos star Thibaut Courtois.

This of course comes fresh off Mourinho’s Benfica locking horns with Courtois and Real Madrid earlier this week.

The two sides did battle in a final round fixture in the league phase of this season’s Champions League.

When all was said and done, it was hosts Benfica who emerged triumphant in Lisbon, by four goals to two.

The aforementioned Courtois for his part featured from the off in the fixture, and conjured up a number of top-class saves despite his side’s eventual defeat.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s return to domestic action this weekend, José Mourinho therefore moved to lavish praise on the Belgian international, explaining:

“Thibaut Courtois was a former player of mine. I know him well, and he is the best goalkeeper in the world.”
