Boca had a perfect week: 2 titles and all the Superclásicos

Club Atlético Boca Juniors capped off a perfect week with wins over River in every competition they faced each other in and the claiming of 2 new titles. The first team, reserve team, volleyball, and basketball squads honored the badge everywhere they competed.

To be fair, it wasn’t a week, it was 5 days. The Xeneize came out on top, and the athletes of the club presided over by Juan Román Riquelme delivered a flawless image. The "week" began on Saturday, April 18, with the futsal win.

That same day, the basketball team was crowned champion of the Americas for the first time in its history; a day later, the women’s volleyball team won its ninth league title. Also on Sunday the 19th, Claudio Úbeda’s team won at the Monumental, and it all wrapped up with the reserve team’s victory at Boca Predio.

Won the Futsal Superclásico

Saturday, April 18: On matchday five of the Argentine Primera División futsal tournament, Boca hosted River at the Quinquela Martin Sports Center. There they won 3-2 with goals from Taliercio, Leguizamón, and Menzeguez. In addition to the three points, the Xeneize remained unbeaten in the competition.

In futsal, Boca beat River 3-2.

Champions of the Americas in Basketball

Saturday, April 18: For the first time in its history, the team from La Ribera was crowned champion of the Basketball Champions League Americas. They defeated Brazil’s Sesi Franca 86-72 in the final to claim the title. The final was played at Obras Sanitarias, and Francisco Cáffaro was named MVP.

First continental title for the basketball team.

Champions of the 2026 Argentine Women’s Volleyball League

Sunday, April 19: Boca, the tournament’s most successful club, claimed its ninth title by taking the second point of the series 3-1, with the following set scores: 26-24, 25-16, 20-25, and 25-15. The final series result was 2-0 over Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata. The final’s MVP award went to Gisela Otamendi.

The women’s volleyball team won its ninth league title.

Won the First Division Superclásico

Sunday, April 19: In football, Claudio Úbeda’s team did the same and earned a 1-0 away win. At the Monumental, and thanks to a Leandro Paredes penalty goal, Boca celebrated another victory over River, just as they had in November of last year under Sifón.

Won the Reserve Superclásico

Wednesday, April 22: The reserve Superclásico was still to be played, and Boca once again left no doubts. The team coached by Mariano Herrón showed its championship pedigree and beat River clearly 2-0 with an own goal by De La Cuesta after a great play by Dylan Gorosito, and Leonel Flores sealed the win, with the entire first-team squad and Juan Román Riquelme, among others, watching as special guests.
