Argentinian side Boca Juniors announced the death of manager Miguel Ángel Russo.
The 69-year-old who was 'hospitalised at home with a reserved prognosis', having received 'constant care from his medical team and the club's medical staff' during the last hours of his life.
'Miguel Ángel Russo leaves an unforgettable mark on our institution and will always be an example of joy, affection, and dedication. We stand with his family and loved ones in this time of sorrow. Farewell, dear Miguel', the club said on social media.
The coach leaves behind a long legacy, considering that his adventures on the bench began in 1990, at Lanús. He then had stints at Estudiantes, Universidad de Chile, Salamanca, Morelia, Los Andes, Rosario Central, Vélez Sarsfield, Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo, Racing Club, Millonarios, Cerro Porteño, Alianz Lima, Boca Juniors, and Al-Nassr.
Miguel Ángel Russo managed Boca Juniors in 13 matches in 2025, achieving three victories including at the FIFA Club World Cup.
As a player, Miguel Ángel Russo featured for Estudiantes and earned several international caps for Argentina, playing alongside the likes of Daniel Passarella, Jorge Valdano, and Diego Maradona.
