Inter Milan striker Francesco Pio Esposito still believes his side can overcome Bodo/Glimt in their Champions League playoff tie.

Speaking to Prime Video via FCInterNews, the 20-year-old admitted that he wasn’t happy with his performance in Norway.

Despite reaching the knockout stages by the skin of their teeth, the Norwegian champions demonstrated their class tonight.

Indeed, Kjetil Knutsen’s side beat Inter Milan 3-1 at the Aspmyra Stadion in the first leg of their knockout playoff tie.

Francesco Pio Esposito drew the Nerazzurri level at the half-hour mark after Sondre Fet broke the deadlock.

However, two unanswered second-half goals propelled Bodo/Glimt to an impressive home victory.

Therefore, Cristian Chivu must now orchestrate a comeback in the second leg at San Siro.

Though Inter will boast home advantage in the return fixture, a comeback is not a foregone conclusion.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri must focus on the upcoming Serie A clash against Lecce.

“Right after the game, I find it hard to pinpoint the exact moment when it slipped away from us,” Esposito said.

“The 2-1 and the 3-1 came one after the other and delivered the final blow. After that, we couldn’t get back into it.

“It’s a tough loss, but fortunately, we have another chance. We have to forget it straight away.

“There’s the second leg, and the comeback is achievable.”

Furthermore, Esposito insisted that Inter’s second-half approach wasn’t wrong and hailed Bodo/Glimt’s strength.

“I don’t think so, honestly. They’re a strong team,” he added. “They beat Manchester City and Atletico Madrid, and at home, they’ve won most of their European matches.

“Bodo are strong, well-organized, maybe even underestimated. I don’t think our attitude was wrong, but we had to do better.”

Finally, he admitted that he could’ve done better despite scoring another European goal.

“No, because I could and should have done much better. I share the team’s overall assessment.”
