Sky Germany and Kicker are reporting that Borussia Dortmund have found a loan locale for Belgian youngster Julien Duranville. It appears as if – despite some interest from other Bundesliga clubs – the 19-year-old will be headed south to FC Basel in the Swiss Super League. The twice-capped Belgian international has not made a BVB first team appearance at all this season and only twice featured for the Dortmund reserves in the Regionalliga.

BVB displeased with Duranville’s training performances

After Duranville returned from a majo9r shoulder injury incurred this summer, BVB head coach Niko Kovac declined to select him due to the fact that he felt dissatisfied with Duranville’s performances on the training pitch. Duranville and American prospect Cole Campbell (also 19) were both deliberately dropped from matchday squads.

While Campbell was ultimately reinstated and eventually loaned out to Hoffenheim, it’s taken nearly half the January transfer window to find a solution for Duranville. Few sides have been interested in Duranville due to the reports of him arriving late for training and outright quitting on the pitch.

Sky reports that Basel are pushing to acquire Duranville on loan and that a deal should be concluded Duranville still hasn’t played a professional match since his two substitute appearance in this Summer’s Club World Cup. He counted as part of the BVB “dead-weight ledger” entering the current window.
