According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement over the transfer of Yan Diomande this evening.
The 20-year-old is set to fly to Madrid this week to undergo a medical before signing a contract until 2031. The deal is reportedly worth in excess of €100 million.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain had been locked in a battle for the Ivorian’s signature in recent weeks, but it is the Spanish giants who have ultimately won the race. PSG confirmed on Sunday evening that they had ended their pursuit, releasing the following statement:
“PSG has this evening formally withdrawn its interest in, and bids for, Yan Diomande. The asking transfer fee and salary demands were completely disproportionate and distortive – and PSG will not break its principles of rational financial management and squad balance.”
Diomande arrives in Madrid following a superb campaign with RB Leipzig. The forward scored 12 Bundesliga goals and provided eight assists, establishing himself as one of Europe’s brightest young attacking talents.
The Ivory Coast international also made his World Cup debut this summer, registering one assist in four appearances as he gained valuable experience on the international stage.
