Brenden Aaronson remained unused as the USA were beaten heavily by Belgium, a night that also carried a Leeds United relegation rivals subplot.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Leeds midfielder has been one of Daniel Farke’s most used players this season, with 24 league starts and six appearances from the bench for nearly 2000 minutes.
Capped 56 times, Aaronson was named on the bench by USA boss Mauricio Pochettino for the friendly at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Weston McKennie made it 1-0 in the 39th minute from an Antonee Robinson corner.
Belgium levelled just before half-time through Zeno Debast, then added four after the break before Patrick Agyemang struck a late consolation.
Pochettino made eight substitutions, seven after the restart, yet Aaronson was not introduced. He continues to be linked with the job at United’s key relegation rivals Tottenham, who are one point above the relegation zone under Igor Tudor.
