Brentford B fought their way into the final of the London Senior Cup, beating Barking 3-2 at Wheatsheaf Park on Tuesday evening.

The young Bees return to the final of the competition they won in the 2021-22 campaign as an Emeka Peters brace and Max Dickov penalty ensured the win.

There were a number of changes from the side who featured against Sheffield Wednesday in the PDL as the Under-18s were given another opportunity to impress.

The much younger B team side were full of energy in the opening minutes of the game.

Michele Maccari had the first chance of the game despite the home side's good start as miscommunication in the backline allowed the attacker to get in on goal but his attempted lob over the goalkeeper flew over.

The Bees opened the scoring on 29 minutes through a Peters tap-in as Ollie Shield whipped in a great delivery from the right-hand side.

The home side were in total control of the affair as Barking were penned deep in their half.

The pressure yielded the west Londoners' second of the game and it Shield who floated a delightful through ball into the path of Peters who did not hesitate when striking into the back of the net with his left foot.

A slight lapse in concentration at the back allowed the away side to halve the deficit just after the break as Hassan Nalbant pounced to put the ball into the net.

The pattern of the game swung in favour of the home side and they levelled on 58 minutes as Lusaed Kastrati half-volleyed into the net.

Connor Wolfheimer made a massive save soon after to deny Olajuwon Akintunde who looked destined to score.

The young Bees wrestled back some control and fashioned a great opportunity to go ahead as Max Wilcox's lofted ball found Shield whose shot was saved by Daniel Purdue in the Barking net.

Vonnte Williams surged into the box on 70 minutes and was fouled in the penalty area by Fahad Nyanja with Dickov sending the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Neil MacFarlane's side saw out the game expertly, keeping possession for the rest of the game.

The win means that Brentford will take on Hanwell Town in the final of the London Senior Cup as they defeated Dulwich Hamlet in the other semi-final.

This is the second time the B team have reached the final of this competition under MacFarlane.

The Bees are in action next on Friday 18 April as they take on Watford away from home in an afternoon kick-off.
