Canada Soccer announced on Monday that head coach Jesse Marsch has signed a four-year contract extension through 2030, ahead of the 2026 World Cup that the country will co-host with the United States and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July.
The American, 52, took charge in 2024 and has since earned the confidence of his employers.
He succeeded John Herdman in 2024, guided Canada to fourth at the 2024 Copa America, and lifted the team to 26th in the FIFA rankings last year, the nation’s best to date.
His record with the national side stands at 12 wins, 12 draws and 5 defeats. He previously managed Leipzig in 2021 and Leeds in 2022-2023.
From day one there has been a strong connection with the team and the country, together with alignment on the programme’s direction. The focus is on committing longer term, developing the set-up in the years ahead and pushing the group to the highest levels.
Marsch will name his final World Cup squad on 29 May. Canada, in Group B, face Bosnia in Toronto on 12 June at 21:00, then Qatar on 19 June at midnight and Switzerland on 24 June at 21:00 in Vancouver.
