Fabio Capello feels Juventus made the right decision by not signing Randal Kolo Muani, even if Inter’s attack ‘remains superior.’
Juventus and Inter meet in a much-anticipated Derby d’Italia on Saturday, September 13, and ex-Italian coach Capello previewed the game in an interview with Gazzetta, focusing on attack and defence.
Juventus have recently welcomed back Gleison Bremer after a knee injury suffered in October 2024 and the Bianconeri have kept two clean sheets in the opening two Serie A matches.
“If the Brazilian is fully recovered, as he has now shown in these first appearances, the Bianconeri start from the solid foundation of a well-tested defence,” Capello said.
“Bremer makes the difference because he has speed and leads the backline.
“After all, even last season, as long as he was there, Juve conceded just one irrelevant goal. Moreover, I believe the current defence is better than the previous one also because those who were in the first year at Juve, like Kalulu or Cabal, have now gained experience. Defensively, it really seems to be that Juventus have no problems.”
How about the attack? Juventus refused to sign Randal Kolo Muani from PSG, seeing the France international join Tottenham, but signed Lois Openda and Edon Zhegrova instead on deadline day.

“Kolo Muani would have added to Juventus’ attack a player with characteristics different from those of Vlahovic and David, who are already opposites,” said Capello.
“But I’m not in favour of going overboard. Inter’s attack remains superior.”
Kolo Muani spent the second part of the 2024-25 season at Juventus, scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions. Nevertheless, the Bianconeri didn’t reach an agreement to make his move permanent as PSG demanded circa €60m for a new transfer this summer.

Juventus have six points in the opening two games of the season, while Inter have three.
“It will be an important game, especially for the Nerazzurri,” Capello concluded.
“Chivu has excellent ideas; he doesn’t want to be preaching in the desert, but the problem for his team is to understand whether some players have managed to get the monkey off their back after the Champions League Final defeat against PSG. They’re going to play against an ambitious Juventus, which have taken a clear path and is growing, but is still under construction.”
