César Azpilicueta to retire after Sevilla’s final La Liga match at Celta Vigo

César Azpilicueta, 36, will retire after Sevilla’s final La Liga match, away to Celta Vigo on Saturday at 21:00.
The player said in a post that this season will be his last and, after many years living his dream, it is time to open a new chapter.
Across 18 professional seasons he played for Osasuna from 2007 to 2010, Olympique de Marseille from 2010 to 2012 under Didier Deschamps, Chelsea from 2012 to 2023, Atlético de Madrid from 2023 to 2025 and Sevilla from 2025 to 2026.
He made 508 appearances for Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup and the League Cup. He became the first player in the club’s history to collect all major trophies and his 13 finals remain a Chelsea record.
Azpilicueta expressed gratitude for every moment, from victories to tough defeats, the challenges and above all the people and friendships formed. The former Spain international has 44 caps and has made 16 La Liga appearances for Sevilla.
