Cesar Peixoto has been appointed Wolves head coach on a two-year contract, succeeding Rob Edwards who was sacked last week.
Executive chairman Nathan Shi said Peixoto showed the identity, leadership and hunger they sought, praising his mentality, work ethic and readiness to embrace the challenge. He described him as young, energetic and ambitious, yet thoughtful and accountable, and said the club believe he will be an excellent fit for their culture and vision.
The 46-year-old Portuguese joins from Gil Vicente, having led the club to sixth in the Portuguese First Division last season.
Wolves will be the former Porto and Benfica star’s ninth managerial post since his coaching career began in 2019. It is his first job outside his homeland.
He is tasked with pursuing an immediate Premier League return after last season’s relegation.
