Como coach Cesc Fàbregas addressed speculation regarding his star player, Nico Paz, potentially returning to parent club Real Madrid, suggesting the rising talent could remain with the Italian side beyond the current season, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
Recent rumors originating from Argentina suggested that Real Madrid might activate their buy-back clause as early as January to bring the attacking midfielder, who has become a driving force for Como, back to Spain immediately.
However, Fàbregas clarified the agreement between the two clubs. The buy-back clause is valid for three seasons, but it cannot be exercised during the winter transfer window. The clause is set at €9 million after the first year (which has passed), €10 million after the second, and €11 million after the third, with Real Madrid retaining 50% of any future resale value.
Speaking at a press conference, Fàbregas said: “Nico Paz? He is a Como player, he will be with us, then it depends on what the other team decides. But I don’t rule out Nico being here next year too. He is ambitious, he can have an important career in football, but why can’t he do it here at Como? He has helped us grow and vice-versa. You can tell if a person is happy by looking at their eyes, and I think he feels happy and good here right now.”
For the time being, therefore, Paz’s focus remains on the pitch until at least June. He has impressed this season and is key to their current position inside the European places.
