Chelsea have confirmed they have sacked Liam Rosenior as manager.

The English boss replaced Enzo Maresca in January, joining the club on a five-and-a-half-year contract.

However, he lasted less than four months in charge of the London club.

Chelsea released the following statement: “Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season.

“This has not been a decision the club has taken lightly. However, recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards, with still so much more to play for this season.”

According to BBC Sport, Chelsea are considering Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Edin Terzic as possible replacements for Rosenior.

Iraola is currently managing Bournemouth, but he will reportedly leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Silva could also be available as his deal at Fulham will expire in June. Terzic has been out of a job since leaving Borussia Dortmund in 2024.

The German was under consideration by Tottenham Hotspur to replace Thomas Frank when he was fired earlier this season.

Chelsea had originally planned to support Rosenior even if the club failed to secure Champions League qualification.

The Blues’ recent run of results forced the club’s hierarchy to change their stance.

Tuesday’s 3-0 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion was their fifth Premier League defeat in a row, leaving them seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool

Rosenior launched a scathing attack on his players following the dismal result, calling their performance ‘indefensible’ and ‘unacceptable’.

Attacking the players in public made his position at Stamford Bridge almost untenable.
