In a recent report, Dimanche Ouest-France revealed that Chelsea have launched a move for Stade Rennais defender Jeremy Jacquet. It has been mentioned that the French centre-back is open to joining the Blues in this winter transfer window.
Jacquet is having a decent campaign at the French club and deserves credit for putting in a handful of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the pitch. The French talent has made 17 appearances for Stade Rennais this season across all competitions.
The 20-year-old has proven himself to be a consistent performer in Ligue 1. Hence, it is no surprise that Chelsea are showing interest in recruiting Jacquet this year.
His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for the Blues to sign him on a cut-price deal this year.

Jacquet is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side when defending inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is even proficient at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.90m, the French defensive ace can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to get a deal over the line for him this January or at the end of this campaign.
Jacquet would add more bite and steel to Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior’s defence. He is good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at the West London club in the coming seasons.
At 20, Jacquet has got the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve with each year. He will also help the Blues compete across all fronts in the future. All in all, Jacquet is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Rosenior should focus on snapping him up in this January transfer window or next summer.
