Englishman joins Reece James, Malo Gusto and Levi Colwill on the treatment table
Liam Rosenior suggested Trevoh Chalobah’s injury may not be as bad as initially feared after the Chelsea defender left the pitch on a stretcher late in their defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues were dumped out of the Champions League by the holders, losing 3-0 on Tuesday night as the aggregate deficit ballooned to 8-2.
And their miseries were compounded late on as Chalobah went down injured and needed to be stretchered off.
Having already made their allotted five substitutions, Chelsea were made to see out the match with ten players.
But, speaking at full-time, Rosenior suggested the injury was not as serious as initially feared, revealing he had suffered a high ankle sprain.
"I think he was really worried,” said the Chelsea head coach of Chalobah. “I’ve just checked with the medical team. We’ll obviously scan and assess him tomorrow. We are hoping and praying that it’s not as bad as we first feared.
He added to TNT Sports: "He's got a high ankle sprain, so I'm praying it's nothing too serious because we can't lose another defender.

"When you go through a difficult run, you have to make sure your habits are right. We have a really difficult game at Everton and we have to be at our best to get a result there."
Earlier this week, Chelsea lost club captain Reece James to a hamstring injury, while Malo Gusto missed out on Tuesday through illness. Centre-back Levi Colwill is also sidelined after rupturing his ACL in pre-season.
Asked if he knew a return timeline for James, Rosenior came up empty-handed: “Not yet. I’m waiting for the full results of his scan. Hopefully he is back sooner rather than later."
Those injuries to James and Gusto saw 20-year-old defender Mamadou Sarr shoot up the pecking order, thrown in the deep end as he made his Champions League debut at right-back against PSG.
He endured a difficult evening as he was made to mark Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who took advantage of the Senegalese’s error to score the opener six minutes into the match.
Rosenior said he had little option but to start Sarr: "Mamadou, he's a very good player, but we missed our two starting right-backs. There are times when you have to put players in and you have to trust them. it took the wind out of our sails.”
