With Los Blancos in the market for a new midfielder, the Chelsea vice-captain has emerged as a possible target.

And the player’s comments about how he would love to live in Madrid, made during the last international break, only served to fuel the speculations further – even earning him a two-match sanction from his club.

Pastore on Enzo to Real Madrid links

So, when asked about the possibility of a move from Chelsea to Madrid in the summer, Pastore downplayed it, saying:

“A lot of things are being said… but the truth is, nothing’s really happening. He’s focused on finishing strong at Chelsea.

“It’s true he’s made some comments that weren’t entirely appropriate at the time, but he didn’t say anything out of the ordinary. He simply talked about Madrid, which he really likes.”

Further elaborating, Pastore stated how the Chelsea star loves the city of Madrid and visits at every chance he gets.

“Whenever he has a day off, he comes to Madrid because I’m there and because he has friends there. But that’s all it is; nothing more. The goal is to finish the year well at Chelsea, have a good World Cup, and then we’ll see,” he said.

Pastore on Franco Mastantuono

Meanwhile, the former Argentine international also spoke about his compatriot Franco Mastantuono, who has had a difficult debut season at Real Madrid.

“He’s an 18-year-old kid… I wish I’d been at Real Madrid by 18! He’s incredibly talented, that’s why he’s where he is. We have to give him time. He needs to adapt. The team also has to help him play his own game,” Pastore remarked.

“He’s not a player who can make the difference on his own, like Vinicius or Mbappé, but rather a player who needs teammates to create plays, link up with his teammates, and get into the opposition’s box.

“I think that with time we’ll all discover the true Mastantono that he is,” he concluded.
