After beating Port Vale in the FA Cup on Saturday, Chelsea have a free week before their Premier League run in gets cracking. There are seven league games left, almost all of them really challenging. So how are the Blues shaping up?
The return of Estevao Willian at the weekend was potentially a big moment. He made his first start since mid-February and looked to exciting and dynamic. Having him both as a starter and an option off the bench is a huge boost to Liam Rosenior.
The other options are a little mixed – Cole Palmer does seem to be doing better but is still far from his best. Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho have good moments but don’t tend to perform week after week. Jamie Gittens has picked up another hamstring injury.
That all just increases the pressure on teenage Estevao to be the man who makes things happen. Our remaining games see us face some strong sides who are going to attack us, which should create opportunities for the Brazilian.
Our midfield situation is looking much more comfortable than before, with options finally available to Liam Rosenior.
Things aren’t looking good in defence, where injuries have depleted an area of the team which was already dodgy.
