Chelsea aren’t prepared to accept loan offers for midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka and will only entertain a permanent sale according to reports.

Chukwuemeka arrived at Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022 in a deal worth around £20m but his time at the club has been plagued by injury issues.

The 20-year-old has been limited to just 27 appearances across two seasons at Stamford Bridge and despite showing glimpses of what he can do he’s been unable to keep himself fit and show he deserves to be given opportunities.

Chelsea set Chukwuemeka stance

Having had the summer offer Chukwuemeka returned to pre-season refreshed and it appeared he would have a role to play under Enzo Maresca after starting the first two games of Chelsea’s tour of America.

However, since then things haven’t gone to plan and Maresca must have seen something he didn’t like as Chukwuemeka hasn’t kicked a ball for the Blues since.

Chukwuemeka has yet to feature for Chelsea this season.

The midfielder hasn’t been sent to train away from the first team, but where his minutes are going to come from is unclear as he’s not been named in a single match day squad this season.

It was revealed earlier this summer that Chukwuemeka had a release clause of £40m in his contract and he was linked with West Ham, Galatasaray and AC Milan over the summer but a move away didn’t materialise.

Football Insider have reported that Chelsea aren’t interested in loaning Chukwuemeka out and will only entertain a permanent sale.

A loan would make sense as it would give Chukwuemeka the opportunity to play regularly and attract more suitors,  but for whatever reason the Blues seemingly aren’t open to that.

There could be a way back for the former Villa man as he was named in Chelsea’s squad for the league phase of the Europa Conference League, but if he can’t get minutes against the likes of Gent, Shamrock Rovers and Noah that would all but confirm his future lies away from the club.
