Transfer stories often reveal as much about football’s shifting power dynamics as they do about individual players. The latest report from NT Vascaínos introduces one such scenario, suggesting Manchester United are monitoring Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos ahead of the summer transfer window.
The idea of one major Premier League club targeting a player from another always raises eyebrows. Yet modern football increasingly treats talent as fluid, particularly when that talent still carries developmental potential.

Santos, at 21, sits firmly within that category.
According to NT Vascaínos, the Brazilian midfielder is appreciated at Chelsea but is “not considered untouchable”. That subtle distinction matters.
Chelsea’s squad remains filled with emerging players competing for places, and the report suggests the club would consider offers should the right proposal arrive.
This claim arrives at an intriguing moment in Santos’ season. Under manager Liam Rosenior he has begun to earn more consistent minutes and appears increasingly comfortable within Chelsea’s midfield structure.

Rosenior’s familiarity with Santos from their time together at RC Strasbourg has helped smooth that transition. The Brazilian’s development in a deeper midfield role has gradually drawn attention across Europe.
Manchester United are described as the club currently paying closest attention to Santos’ situation. Juventus are also said to be monitoring developments.
From United’s perspective, the logic is clear. The club are already preparing for structural changes in midfield, particularly with Casemiro expected to depart in the near future.
A player like Santos offers both present value and future potential. At 21 he represents long term investment while already possessing experience within European football.

NT Vascaínos report that the midfielder carries a market value of around €40m, approximately £34m, based on estimates from Transfermarkt. That figure places him within reach for several elite clubs should negotiations open.
Another layer exists within this story. Santos developed through the academy at Vasco da Gama, meaning the Brazilian club would receive a solidarity payment if he is sold.
The report explains that Vasco would earn 2.5% of any future transfer fee. A deal in the region of €40m would therefore provide a valuable financial boost to the Rio de Janeiro side.
For now, the situation remains exploratory. Santos continues to play under Rosenior and Chelsea retain full control of his future.
Yet interest from Manchester United and Juventus signals that the midfielder’s progress is being watched closely. As summer approaches, stories like this tend to gather momentum.
For Manchester United supporters, the idea of pursuing Andrey Santos will feel logical in several ways.
The club’s midfield evolution has become a frequent talking point. Casemiro’s eventual departure appears inevitable, which means United must identify players capable of filling that void while shaping the next generation of the squad.
Santos fits that description. At 21 he combines youth with experience at European level, something supporters often view as an ideal recruitment profile.
Fans may also appreciate the symbolic aspect. Signing a promising midfielder from Chelsea would carry competitive significance within the Premier League landscape.
Chelsea supporters, however, might interpret this story differently. Santos has only recently begun receiving consistent minutes under Liam Rosenior, and many fans believe the midfielder still has considerable development ahead.
Allowing such a player to leave for around €40m could feel premature to supporters who value long term squad building. Chelsea’s recent strategy has emphasised youth, and Santos represents that philosophy.
Ultimately, both fanbases would see potential in the player’s trajectory. The real question lies in whether Chelsea view him as central to their future or merely part of a broader transfer ecosystem.
